APA Group specialists created an automated logistics center for the Amazon company. They used Siemens PLC software, made a safety switch control and simulation system in the office. The system at the facility and communication with the Amazon master system were successfully commissioned.
The project involved creating a control system for a parcel transport and sorting line in Amazon's logistics centres in Hamburg and Szczecin. The parcel sorting algorithm identifies parcels by barcode using Cognex cameras. Based on this information, the master system determines the route of the parcel, which the PLC programs execute. The work was performed for the company SIT SteuerungsTechnik GmbH. The maximum capacity of Amazon's logistics centers after implementation was as high as 30,000 parcels per hour.
